Butterflies: Year 3 - Year 6

The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns provided the inspiration for these musical paintings. We began by listening to each of the movements and responding with paint, using marks to capture the spirit of each animal. We then learned about the abstract paintings of Wassily Kandinsky. Looking at these helped us to combine elements from each movement into a single composition: a carnival of animals!
